Symptoms: Engine misfires, black smoke, loss of power, rough idle

Typical fix: Remove and clean or replace injectors, check injector pump timing, test compression

High — fouled injectors waste fuel and can damage the engine

Symptoms: Hitch raises slowly, doesn't hold position, drifts down under load

Typical fix: Check hydraulic fluid level, replace hydraulic filter, inspect control valve, check for cylinder seal leaks

Moderate — affects implement use but machine is still driveable

Symptoms: PTO slips under load, implements lose speed, burning smell from clutch area

Typical fix: Adjust or replace PTO clutch, check engagement linkage, inspect driven equipment for excessive load

Moderate — will worsen and eventually fail, stranding the implement

Symptoms: Hard starting in cold conditions, excessive cranking, white smoke on startup

Typical fix: Test and replace failed glow plugs, check glow plug relay and wiring, test battery condition

High in winter — machine won't start in cold weather without working glow plugs
